CDIO pre-assignments

Hello, my name is Alex. I am participating the CDIO Academy 2017.  Before the design camp begins I have some research to do.
The first thing I need to know about an automated driving is SAE International classification of autonomous vehicles.
This classification contains six level of driving automation for on-road vehicles. It describes the key distintions between the levels and reflects a current industry practice. The main distinction is between Level 2 and Level 3 when an automated driving system begins to perform the entire dynamic driving task.

On the first level (Level 0 - "No automation") the whole dynamic driving tasks is fully performed by a human driver. He controls all of the aspects (steering, acceleration/deceleration, braking etc.).
On the next level (Level 1 - A driver assistance) a driver assistance system appears. It performs either steering or acceleration/deceleration and the others aspects of the driving process are performed by a human driver.

On the third level (Level 2 - Partial automation)  the driver assistance system controls both steering and acceleration/deceleration processes. The remaing aspects of driving task is performed by the human driver.

The previous levels imply that the human driver is a main performer of the dynamic driving task. The next 3 levels describe situaions when the main performer is the automated driving system.

On the Level 3 (Conditional automation) the automated driving system performs all of the aspects of driving process with an expectation that the human driver will respond appropriately to a request to intervene.

On the Level 4 (High automation) the automated driving system performs all of the aspects of driving process even if the human driver does not respond appropriately to a request to intervene.

And on the last level (Level 5 - "Full automation") the automated driving system performs all of the aspects of dunamic driving task under all roadway and enviromental conditions (that could be managed by  the human driver) full time.
